REMINDER/Drummers in Red to March Against the Slaughter of Animals in Major Vegan Rally

Kebek Animal Rights Association's "March to Close Down All Slaughterhouses" to Draw Protesters from across Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 17, 2016) - This Saturday, Georges Laraque, Rafaelle Lafrance (candidate at La voix 2016), and Maryse Letarte (singer, songwriter) will join Kebek Animal Rights Association (KARA) in Montreal's Third International March to Close Down All Slaughterhouses. Creative flags, banners and bodypainted folks in tribal style will add colour and rhythm to the action.

Date: Saturday, June 18
Time: 1 p.m.
Place: Square Saint-Louis, Montreal; the March concludes at Park La Fontaine

Local animal rights organisations from Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City will again join KARA for the global event, which has origins in Paris. The demonstrators' aim is to open the eyes and hearts of people worldwide to the suffering of animals in slaughterhouses and to stress the urgency of rethinking society's exploitative relationship to animals.

"Lest we forget that all farmed animals including egg-laying hens and dairy cows end up in the slaughterhouse the moment they are considered "unproductive".The slaughter itself is only the last painful stage of a miserable life from the stress of being separated from the mother much too young, to prolonged confinement, and transport to their deaths. Let us be reasonable: It is simply impossible for the industry to ensure that these animals are spared physical and psychological suffering." Jean-Jacques Kona-Boun - veterinary and spokesperson for the march.

Founded in 2012, KARA is an experienced and dynamic organizer of compelling public events for animal rights. Media networks Radio-Canada, CTV, La Presse, Le Journal de Montréal, Huffington Post and CJAD reported on KARA's previous events.
