Special Ticket Sales and Donation Booth Benefit Tony Stacey Centre Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor, Sports Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 17, 2005) - As a tribute to veterans leading up to Remembrance Day, The Toronto Argonauts will help raise funds for the Tony Stacey Centre, Canada's premiere long-term care facility for veterans, through a portion of ticket sales from and the donation booth at the October 27th game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. $5 from every field level (red) $20 ticket and $4 from each $34 (green) ticket will go to support the Tony Stacey Centre. Tickets must be purchased by October 24th at 5pm.

Besides enjoying a great day of football, game-goers will have the chance to meet veterans who will be manning the donation booth at the game, collecting for the Tony Stacey Centre. Game time is 7:30pm.

Momentum is picking up across Canada on the fundraising efforts by the Stacey Centre to raise the $2.5 million dollars needed to meet more recent provincial government guidelines pertaining to brick and mortar issues. The goal is to ensure that every Canadian veteran, who chooses to do so, can continue to live at the facility. Canada has proclaimed 2005 the Year of the Veteran.

The not-for-profit Centre, named for Tony Stacey, the World War II Sergeant who fought tirelessly to found it and who died just over a year ago, is located in Toronto and accepts veterans from across Canada. It is distinguished by the fact that it is the only veterans' long term care facility that accepts non-serving spouses of veterans, non-overseas veterans, veterans of conflicts post Korea and peacekeepers.
