OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 13, 2005) - Computer systems professionals at the Canada Revenue Agency and their colleagues will rally at the Ottawa Taxation Centre to show their support for their bargaining team in a final attempt to avert strike action.

When: Wednesday, July 13, 2005
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where: Ottawa Taxation Centre
875 Heron Road (near Billings Bridge)

The bargaining team of the Audit, Finance and Science Group (AFS) and the Revenue Agency have returned to the bargaining table on July 11-12 to reach an acceptable settlement. Failing that, effective July 13, 2005, auditors, computer systems and other professionals at the Agency will be in a legal strike position.

These employees were last on strike in 1991 when salaries were frozen by the Mulroney Government. Fourteen years later, the Martin Government wants to cut the wages of the computer systems professionals by removing their retention allowance.
