SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2013) - The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) announced today its educational webinar, "Presenting the new Electronic Prior Authorization Transactions" within the federally mandated NCPDP SCRIPT Standard for ePrescribing, which will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.
The ePA webinar, intended for physicians and other prescribers, pharmacies, payers, manufacturers, and electronic health record (EHR) software vendors among other stakeholders, will provide an overview of the real-time ePA work flow transactions and its benefits to prescribers, patients, pharmacies and payers.
Speakers Frank McKinney, Health IT Consultant at Frank McKinney Group, LLC, and Patrice Kuppe, CPHIT, Senior EDI Specialist at Surescripts will give attendees a first-hand look at the ePA transactions, including how the transactions leverage information through other electronic exchanges such as the ASC X12 eligibility transaction and the NCPDP Formulary & Benefit Standard; the differences between solicited, unsolicited, and prospective and retrospective workflows; and how the provider will know what to provide to complete the ePA request.
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who register and attend the webinar may earn 1.0 hours of Continuing Education (CE) Credits from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). CE Credit is being provided by AmerisourceBergen.
