REMINDER: ORLive Presents: A Complex Abdominal Wall Repair Using Veritas® Collagen Matrix

Live Webcast: From St. Mary's Health Center: August 22, 2007 at 5:00 PM CDT (22:00 UTC)

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO--(Marketwire - August 22, 2007) - On Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007, at 5pm CDT, www.ORLive.com will broadcast a complex abdominal wall repair performed at SSM St. Mary's Health Center in Richmond Heights, Missouri.

This procedure will be performed by Jonathan Limpert, MD, medical director of SSM St. Mary's Health Center's Breast Center and the Commission on Cancer Program Liaison for the Health Center. Dr. Limpert will perform this complex repair using Veritas® Collagen Matrix ("Veritas"), an innovative biologic material which remodels into the tissue it is used to repair. Veritas is a tested, FDA cleared and exciting alternative to currently available synthetic and biologic meshes. After conclusion of this procedure, Dr. Limpert will highlight his results with Veritas in a variety of complex abdominal wall repairs. Questions from healthcare professionals and the general public can be sent to Dr. Limpert during the broadcast and the seven days following. Dr. Limpert will address questions during this period as time permits.

Veritas Collagen Matrix, from Synovis Life Technologies, is an innovative non-cross-linked biologic material derived from bovine pericardium indicated for use as an implant for the surgical repair of soft tissue deficiencies, including abdominal and thoracic wall repair, muscle flap reinforcement, and repair of hernias. Veritas is produced through a patented process that results in an extremely biocompatible and highly acellular remodelable material. Once implanted, Veritas provides a scaffold for connective tissue protein synthesis and host tissue in-growth. The result is the seamless integration of Veritas into the surrounding host tissue.

Veritas has been used successfully in contaminated wounds and in the presence of infection as well as in other challenging situations. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently granted Synovis the following additional indication: Veritas minimizes tissue attachment to the material when in direct contact with viscera. Veritas is the only biologic material to date to have received this important indication from the FDA.

Veritas has been used successfully in complex abdominal wall repairs with over two years follow-up.
