HOUSTON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 15, 2006 -- On November 15, 2006, at 5:00 PM CST join Doctors Pedro T. Ramirez and David M. Kushner in a live webcast presentation on www.or-live.com about "Novel Gynecologic Oncology Procedures" using Harmonic™ energy technology. Dr. Ramirez is Associate Professor, Director of Minimally Invasive Surgical Research & Education Department of Gynecologic Oncology, at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kushner is Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, WI.

The live presentation will feature techniques in total laparoscopic hysterectomy with BSO, pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy, and radical trachelectomy. The presentation will detail the steps of total laparoscopic hysterectomy for uterine cancer. Complete laparoscopic pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy will be demonstrated, including full dissection of the pelvic sidewall and removal of lymph nodes to the level of the renal vessels.

An exciting advance for young patients with operable disease came with the advent of the radical trachelectomy. Instead of the classic radical hysterectomy, which removes the uterus and surrounding ligaments, this new procedure removes the diseased cervix and surrounding ligaments. The remainder of the uterus is left in place, to allow for future child-bearing.

Until recently, almost all patients with cervical cancer required treatment which cost them their fertility. Complete pelvic lymphadenectomy is performed in both procedures.

The abdominal and laparoscopic (vaginal) approaches will be detailed, compared and contrasted. Available oncologic, fertility and obstetrical data will be reviewed.
