REMINDER/Public Service Announcement: RCAF CF-18 Hornets to Flyby Montreal Alouettes Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Game

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 18, 2015) - Two Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornets will conduct a flyby over Percival Molson Memorial Stadium around 1 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2015.

The flyby will coincide with the start of the Montreal Alouettes Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Game.

The aircraft will fly over the stadium at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest point of their route before resuming a higher flying altitude for their return trip to 3 Wing Bagotville.

At the request of the Canadian Football League, RCAF aircraft have conducted these flybys at Alouettes and other Canadian Football League stadiums each year for more than a decade. These flybys are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times.

The stadium in Montreal was named after McGill athlete Capt Percival Molson, who earned the Military Cross for gallantry before he was killed in action July 5, 1917, near Vimy Ridge during World War I. In World War II, Another member of the Molson family, Flying Officer Hartland Molson, was one of the few RCAF pilots to fly in the Battle of Britain during World War II and survived being shot down on Oct. 5, 1940.
