Reminder: Versus Training Center Opens to Much Anticipation

Unique New Fitness Facility to offer the finest in professional fitness training, amenities, and personalized services.

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Sports Editor VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2011) - Versus Training Center (VTC), a Vancouver based Fitness and Athletic club, and one of Canada's only two Royce Gracie Martial Arts Academies, has opened its doors at 130 W. Hastings Street, in down town Vancouver. VTC founders and directors, Iman Rahmim and Ali Taghinejad are two of the founding partners of the award-winning Versus 21 Health Club previously located in Old Gastown neighborhood. They are thrilled with the distinctive new facility that will offer their loyal clientele professional fitness training, martial arts training, nutritional products and refreshments. They are planning a Grand Opening celebration on February 23, 2011.

VTC is an evolution of its predecessor Versus 21. It is bigger, and better, spanning over two floors and features a state of the art strength and conditioning area spanning over 3,000 sqft. In addition to the standard fitness staples, new to the location are four versatile giant power racks, a 40 yard indoor astro-turf track, a nutrition store and juice bar.

With an entire floor dedicated to martial arts, VTC is also Vancouver's official Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy and Kickboxing Club. The Center houses some of Vancouver's best instructors and coaches under one roof, with the Jiu Jitsu program being overseen by the original world UFC champion himself. Says co-founder Iman Rahmim, "It is amazing to learn from the man that started it all. Royce is a patient, and down-to-earth instructor, and through his lifestyle and demeanor, sets an exceptional example for all his students around the world. It is pretty amazing that our students get the chance to train with Royce himself."

To celebrate the Grand Opening, on February 23, 2011 from 6PM to 9PM, VTC will be hosting an evening of workshops and classes benefiting the local Food Bank as well as Caleb's Hope - Project United, a non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of life of women and children affected by war, poverty and HIV/AIDS in Northern Uganda. Their Project United program is a new mentorship and therapy-based program targeting youth. These youth are war and AIDS orphans, former child soldiers and sex slaves, and girls who are victim to gender-based violence. This one-of-a-kind therapy program will aid in the rehabilitation of these children that have been directly impacted by the various crisis in the region.

Media and the community are invited to come down, experience the new facility, and donate non-perishable foods to the local food bank or new or used martial arts equipment to be sent to the United Project in Northern Uganda to help with rehabilitation of war and AIDS orphans and former child soldiers. Holly Dignard of Caleb's Hope says "the youth in Northern Uganda suffer ongoing trauma from a war that has lasted over 23 years. Martial Arts Therapy has proven to be an effective form of treatment for PTSD and war-related trauma. With this program, we wish to empower the youth with new-found integrity, self-respect, confidence, hope, and - ultimately - healing. This program would not be able to happen without the selfless and dedicated support of Versus Training. On behalf of myself, everyone at Caleb's Hope, and the Ugandan youth, I want to extend a very big thank-you to Iman, Ali and the Versus team for their ongoing support of charities not only overseas, but in their own community."
