REMINDER-Warning: Open Dam/Portions of St. Andrews Lock and Dam to be Removed

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Sept. 2, 2010) - Due to higher water levels and increased water flows caused by recent heavy precipitation, portions or all of St. Andrews Lock and Dam at Lockport, Manitoba, may be removed. This may be necessary as the dam will not be able to maintain normal summer water levels at this time.

Please note that the waters below the lock and dam, where the flow over the sill is very powerful, can become extremely dangerous without warning.  Boaters are warned to stay away from this area at this time.

Gated areas used for shore fishing below the dam may also be closed due to higher water levels and the more turbulent and dangerous currents. These areas, if closed, will reopen when waters levels recede to normal.

Caution is advised when navigating in the area of the dam, and the Red River in the vicinity of Lister Rapids, due to fluctuating water levels and debris.
