Reno Plastic Surgeon Reveals Unique Benefits of Nonsurgical Liposuction Alternative

Dr. Tiffany McCormack Authors Two Blog Posts Highlighting the Distinctive Benefits of CoolSculpting - a Non-Surgical, Non-Invasive Alternative to Liposuction

RENO, NV--(Marketwired - Feb 25, 2014) - "The ideal candidate for CoolSculpting® is a person of relatively normal weight with fat pockets that are resistant to diet and exercise," says Reno plastic surgeon Tiffany McCormack, MD. At McCormack Plastic Surgery, her private practice, Dr. McCormack offers CoolSculpting® as an alternative to liposuction for patients interested in fat reduction through non-surgical means.

According to Benefits of CoolSculpting® -- a recent blog post on Dr. McCormack's website -- the innovative fat reduction procedure is "designed to reduce and even eliminate troublesome fat buildups in the abdomen, back, flanks, inner thighs, arms, and bra strap area." In comparison to surgical techniques, the blog highlights several advantageous qualities of CoolSculpting®, some of which are listed below:

  • It is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure
  • There is typically no presurgical preparation necessary
  • The actual treatment can be relatively comfortable
  • Anesthesia, needles, incisions, and pain medicine are not needed
  • Fat exits the body through natural processes
  • There is little, if any, downtime following treatment

Regarding the specific process CoolSculpting® employs for fat reduction, Dr. McCormack briefly describes a technique called "cryolipolysis" in What Makes CoolSculpting® Unique? -- another recent blog post on her website. "In short, cryolipolysis essentially freezes fat cells, which eventually leads to their death," writes the Reno plastic surgeon. "All of our body's cells are sensitive to a particular temperature, and this machine is designed to take fat cells down to the specific degree to which only they are sensitive, effectively leaving other, surrounding cells unharmed." Following this process, she goes on to note that the late fat cells are then metabolized and eliminated via natural bodily processes.

Ultimately, Dr. McCormack says optimal results -- often similar to those of liposuction -- can generally be achieved for a specific area somewhere within the range of one to four treatment sessions, depending on the patient's unique needs. She also adds that although targeted areas may be slightly sore and/or swollen after treatment, neither potential side-effect will typically progress to the point patients are unable to work or perform normal daily functions.
