Renowned Glass Sculpture Artist Unveils New, Breakthrough Collection in San Francisco Gallery

Loretta Yang Combines Pate-de-Verre With Blown Glass in Exhibition at Liuli Gallery

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 16, 2010) - Wednesday night, surrounded by more than 50 invited guests and media, renowned glass sculpture artist Loretta Hui-shan Yang unveiled Silence within Fire, an all-new, six-piece collection significant for its unique combination of two distinct techniques, pâte-de-verre (lost-wax casting) and hand blown glass. The event, which took place at the Liuli Gallery in San Francisco's SOMA district, marked the collection's North American debut; the collection will remain on display at the gallery, free to the public, for one month.

For Yang, who 23 years ago left the cinematic arts to follow her passion of mastering the art of pâte-de-verre glass casting, the Silence within Fire series represents an important breakthrough as the combination of techniques capitalizes on the precise colors and intricate flowers formed though the lost wax casting method. The process, called hot-joining, unites the flower to a hand blown form, resulting in a mesmerizing display.
