RentHop Launches New Mobile App for Rental Property Managers

First Mobile App to Let Managers Check in for Immediate Service to Renters; Shows Live Map of Broker and Landlord Check-Ins for Renters

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 15, 2013) - RentHop, the smarter apartment search marketplace, announced today the launch of its new mobile app for rental property managers, available for download today at the iOS App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/renthop-manager/id695651355).

Rental property managers now have an easy way to connect with renters searching for quality apartments, to update their listings data, and to "check-in" to RentHop's on-demand platform using the new RentHop mobile app. With the check-in feature, managers can broadcast their location in real-time and instantly schedule showings with interested apartment seekers. Listings available for appointments on-demand receive a higher HopScore or ranking from RentHop so will appear further up in the search results at www.renthop.com.

The RentHop website also features a live map for consumers in the NYC area displaying where all rental property managers are checking in so they can immediately reach out to schedule an office consultation or view a specific property.

"The rental property managers we work with are super busy people with their smartphones attached to their hip at all times, so it made a lot of sense to give them a mobile app to connect with renters while they're on the go," said Lee Lin, CEO of RentHop. "One of the most frustrating parts of the apartment search is the endless email and phone tag renters suffer just to schedule an appointment. The Check-In feature is especially critical and enables managers to broadcast their location and availability."

"The mobile app makes life a lot easier. It is much more convenient to update listings and stay in contact with clients," said Jon Grayly, one of the top performing rental agents at Citi Habitats. "RentHop is a great service for apartment renters, but it's also a useful platform for agents like us that pride ourselves on offering quality listings and providing excellent service to our clients."

The RentHop mobile app includes:

  • Messaging - to send notes and communicate with renters in real-time from a mobile device.
  • Listings - to repost and update listings from the mobile device and reflect instantly on RentHop
  • Check In - to notify renters that managers are immediately available to show listings. This is then reflected in real time on the RentHop site at http://www.renthop.com/appointments

The RentHop mobile app is free and currently available for download at the iOS App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/renthop-manager/id695651355) for iPads and iPhones, and will be available later in the year for Android devices.

Unlike existing apartment search alternatives that simply sort by price or posting date, the RentHop HopScore, or ranking, incorporates dozens of factors that can be categorized into three distinct dimensions: publicly available information gauging the quality, timeliness, and completeness of the listing; the internal track record of the listing within RentHop; and the previous behavior of the broker or landlord offering the apartment. The three dimensions combine to form a holistic view for identifying the most appropriate apartment listings for renters and displaying them in search results.
