RepairPal Celebrates Mom With Free Car Repair for Contest Winner

First Annual Mother's Day Contest Gives Mom What She Needs

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - May 12, 2013) - RepairPal (www.repairpal.com), the leading online source for auto repair, today announced the winner of the first annual "Mother's Day 2013 Car Repair Essay Contest." While finding the perfect gift is no easy feat, a car repair is a thoughtful and practical idea for hardworking moms.

Many clever and compelling entries were received through Twitter and Facebook. In the end, RepairPal is pleased to congratulate Kara Funk of Perrysburg, OH as this year's contest winner. The winning entry earned Kara a $300 credit towards her car repair at a RepairPal certified Top Shop.

Winning entry from the Funk family: "We have 5 children (ages 10, 6, 4, 2 and 2 months) and Kara is a nurse. I [Father, Josh Funk] work part-time with teens at our local YMCA doing community service projects and personal training and Kara works per diem/contingent as an OB nurse at our local hospital and also as a childbirth educational consultant for new moms every few months. We have a 2000 Volvo S70 GLT SE with 167,500 miles on it and I'm afraid the radiator will give out on her while she is traveling back and forth to the hospital or to see childbirth clients."

According to a Harris Interactive survey commissioned by RepairPal, 77 percent of car owners and leasers believe repair shops perform unnecessary repairs more for women than for men, with a staggering 71 percent of consumers who own or lease a car that feel repair shops are often condescending towards women. RepairPal helps make every day you need a car repair "mother's day" by scrutinizing repair shops for extremely high quality work that is guaranteed, fair prices and industry-leading customer satisfaction. Only the best of the best make it to the Top Shop network so you know mom will be treated right.

"Mother's Day is about more than just making breakfast or sending flowers," says RepairPal CEO Art Shaw. "Removing the stress from a car repair is a gift that seemed impossible until now. RepairPal is focused on empowering consumers to find the most trusted and fairly priced Top Shop for their auto repair needs and this year, one deserving mom is getting a little bit more."

With the Top Shop network, RepairPal's own team of ASE-certified Master Technicians designed an 84-question survey that rigorously assesses all aspects of a shop: shop visits, evaluating employees and technicians, talking to customers, examining tools and equipment. RepairPal's goal is that the customer leaves the repair shop feeling not just relieved, but simultaneously happy as Top Shops go beyond simply satisfying customers.

For the first annual RepairPal Mother's Day contest, contestants participated by following RepairPal on Twitter (@RepairPal) or Facebook and responding to the question, "Why does your mom deserve a free car repair?" with the hashtag #MomsCar.
