REPEAT: BMO Supports Its Customers by Introducing Relief Program for Victims of the Monteregie Floods

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 6, 2011) - BMO Financial Group announced today that it has set up a relief program for its customers who are victims of the history-making floods along the Richelieu River.

"This is a very real crisis for thousands of residents of more than a dozen Montérégie municipalities. Various municipalities have declared states of emergency due to the flooding, and we can only hope that the rain stops soon and the flood waters recede quickly," said François Hudon, Senior Vice-President, Quebec Division, BMO Bank of Montreal. We want to assist our customers who are living through this human drama, and we hope that our relief program will help alleviate their difficulties," added Mr. Hudon.

The BMO relief program for flood victims includes:

  • Deferral of personal loan payments (various options);
  • Deferral of mortgage loan principal and interest payments for a period of two months;
  • Special accommodations for BMO Bank of Montreal commercial clients affected by the flooding, which are being developed on a case by case basis.

"We've always stood behind our customers and are ready to assist affected customers by deferring payments on their loans, mortgages and lines of credit," said Pierre M. Bergeron, Vice-President, South-Eastern Quebec, BMO Bank of Montreal.

BMO Bank of Montreal customers are invited to visit their local branch and speak with their financial services manager about their particular financial needs resulting from the damage caused by the floods.
