REPEAT-Junior Achievement Hosts Stock Market Challenge

Student teams compete for highest net worth at Toronto Stock Exchange

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2011) - More than 120 students from high schools across the GTA will get the chance to succeed in the high-stakes equities market at the 10th Annual Stock Market Challenge, hosted by Junior Achievement of Central Ontario and Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Using state-of-the-art wireless technology in a realistic trading environment, 30 student teams of four will buy and sell fictitious companies' shares, aiming to build the highest value portfolio by the end of the trading period. The students will also have the opportunity in the morning to ring the opening bell at the TSX. The student event is event is made possible by a generous sponsorship from Capital One Canada.

"The Stock Market Challenge gives JA students the opportunity to learn investment and money management principles in a fun environment," said Jane Eisbrenner, President and CEO, Junior Achievement of Central Ontario. "With more and more people active in the stock market every day, there's no time like the present to give young people the opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of equity investing."

Later that evening, The Stock Market Challenge fundraiser will pit over 30 corporate teams against each other in their own competition, with the goal of raising $120,000 toward the delivery of Junior Achievement Middle School Program Dollars with Sense to Grade 7 students throughout Toronto, Peel, Halton, Durham, York and Simcoe.
