REPEAT: SANYO Canada Launches Fully Waterproof 8 Megapixel Digital Movie CameraCorder™

CONCORD, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 14, 2008) - SANYO Canada has released the much anticipated SANYO Xacti VPC-E2 (launched as the VPC-CA8 in Japan), a fully waterproof digital movie CameraCorder with 8 megapixel still image capability, eliminating the need for users to carry both a digital still camera and a camcorder to record their memories.

The E2 CameraCorder is ideal for people with active lifestyles at the beach or on the ski slopes since the E2's waterproof rating (JIS IPX5/IPX8) allows the CameraCorder to be completely submerged underwater up to 1.5 metres/4.92 feet for 60 minutes.

The SANYO Xacti E2 also sports Face Detection capabilities for both video and still images, and operates on a CMOS sensor enabling high resolution images and faster frame rates for video. The E2 uses advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 high quality format for video and records both digital stills and video onto a SD / SDHC card (sold separately). The CameraCorder captures up to 10 hours of full motion video on an 8GB SDHC memory card on TV-HQ mode.

As a member of the Xacti family, the E2 is pocket-sized, lightweight (258 grams/9.03 ounces including battery and SD card), and is ergonomically designed to be operated with only one hand. Still images can also be simultaneously shot while the camera is recording video.

Other features include a new underwater scene mode for truer underwater colours, web-mode for simple sharing to web sites such as YouTube and portable media players such as the iPod video, 5X optical lens (up to 60X with digital zoom), sequential photo taking of up to 10 photos at a shutter speed of five frames per second, digital image stabilizer, in-camera editing, and a talking navigation feature for first time users. The E2 comes bundled with Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 for movie editing and DVD authoring.

The SANYO Xacti E2 will be available in early June, 2008 at Canadian retailers including Centre HiFi, L.L. Lozeau, 2001 Audio Video, Bay Bloor Radio, Brentview Electronics, Henry's, TeleCity Electronics, Advance Electronics, Audio Warehouse, Krazy Kiley's, A&B Sound, NCIX, Best Buy Online and Available in white or blue and white, the SANYO Xacti E2 has an MSRP of $440.

The SANYO Xacti E2 is SANYO's second generation waterproof CameraCorder. Key differences from the bestselling E1 include an 8 megapixel CMOS instead of 6 megapixel CCD sensor, face detection software for both video and stills, and a lower MSRP.
