REPEAT: The Right Honourable Joe Clark Set to Speak in Calgary on Nov. 21, 2014

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 19, 2014) - As conflicts around the world escalate, the former Prime Minister and foreign minister, Joe Clark, will speak in Calgary about the critical role of NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and government in helping to prevent or resolve these conflicts.

Breaking Down Walls: Relief, Development and Peace is an evening of music and discussion with the Right Honourable Joe Clark, on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7pm at Foothills Alliance Church.

Joe Clark is a Canadian statesman, businessman, writer, university professor, former journalist and politician. In his recent book about Canada's foreign policy, Joe Clark discusses both international and domestic leadership, including the challenges facing the current government.

"We are pleased to host this fundraising evening with Mr. Clark. It will focus on the important work of building understanding between people in conflict; supporting healthy community development through relationship building and education," says Abe Janzen, Executive Director, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

Donations will support MCC's Global Family education program in over 40 countries. There are many barriers to children accessing education. Global Family works to overcome these barriers through community-based education.

Copies of Joe Clark's book, How We Lead: Canada in a Century of Change, will be available for purchase. Book signing to follow presentation.

The evening will be hosted by Chris Epp, with music provided by Kim Thiessen, Darryl Neustaedter Barg and the Corpus Christi Male Chorale.
