Quercus Publishing Announces New Imprint, Heron Books

Quercus Publishing Plc is delighted to announce that Susan Watt is joining the company to launch a
new imprint, Heron Books.

Heron Books will create a small and varied list of both fiction and non-fiction titles and the
imprint will take Quercus into new subject areas and genres. The first title for Heron Books, Mark
Nepo's The Book of Awakening, will be released on the 28 April 2011.

Susan has for the last twelve years been Publishing Director at HarperCollins and before that she
was the Publishing Director of Michael Joseph. Notable titles that Susan has commissioned are The
Dangerous Book for Boys and Jeremy Paxman's The English.

Susan says: "I am so interested in finding original, even quirky, talent in writing every kind of
book, storytelling in both non-fiction and fiction - and of course particularly fascinated in
finding books that suit the rapidly expanding group of new middle age, who have the time to read
as well as the means to buy."

Mark Smith, Chief Executive of Quercus commented: "Susan has an outstanding track record in both
spotting talent and commissioning groundbreaking ideas and I am thrilled that she has chosen to
join us. Our imprints - Maclehose Press, Jo Fletcher Books and now Heron Books complement the core
Quercus publishing programme and we all expect Heron Books to become a significant contributor to
Quercus' growth.
