Research Reveals Ongoing SAP Performance Issues Have Significant Business Impact

Ninety Percent of SAPPHIRE Survey Respondents Experience Monthly SAP Performance Problems, Majority With SAP BI and SAP ERP

REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - Precise today announces a new study on SAP performance, conducted by Dimensional Research. The findings reveal 90 percent of SAP users report monthly performance issues with SAP applications, and more than half cite three or more incidents a month. Most (80 percent) respondents agree that poor performance can significantly impact the business.

Nearly 700 IT and business professionals participated in the survey at the recent SAP SAPPHIRE conference. Findings include ongoing, unresolved performance issues for 39 percent of respondents, with the highest concentration reported in SAP business intelligence (BI) and SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations.

"The research clearly shows a surprising number of SAP deployments suffer from performance issues," explained Diane Hagglund, senior research analyst for Dimensional Research. "The respondents told us they have no clear way to diagnose where those problems originate and as a result are spending days, and even weeks chasing the root cause of performance degradation."

Key survey findings:

--  90 percent have at least one performance incident per month
--  SAP BI has the highest rate of incidents (63 percent), followed by SAP
    ERP (59 percent)
--  39 percent have unresolved SAP performance problems
--  80 percent say that performance problems impact their business
--  30 percent say it takes days and often weeks to identify the cause of
    a typical SAP issue
