Resource Sectors Unite To Honour The Best Of Alberta

Alberta Chamber of Resources celebrates achievement in the name of the orderly and responsible development of Alberta's resources

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Feb. 6, 2015) - Celebrating 79 years in Alberta, Alberta Chamber of Resources and 600 of its members and guests honoured outstanding leadership and achievement across the resource industry at their Annual Awards Banquet. Award recipients have made great strides to ensure continued success for the future of resources in Alberta.

"The awards have two basic purposes," says Brad Anderson, ACR's Executive Director. "Of course, they give a well-deserved pat on the back for excellent deeds but they also inspire excellence in others, and raise the bar of performance across our entire industry year after year."

The award recipients included:

  • Brian C. Ferguson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cenovus Energy Inc. received the Resource Person of the Year Award. This award recognizes leaders who exemplify the best of Alberta, who stand apart as having furthered the orderly and responsible development of the province's resources, and who serve as models and inspiration to others. Mr. Ferguson is the 32nd person to receive the prestigious award since it was created in 1977.
  • Tribal Chiefs Employment and Training Services Association received the Aboriginal Rewarding Partnerships Award. This award recognizes excellence and innovation in cooperation and capacity building.
  • Global Restoration Corp. received the Major Reclamation Award. The Major Reclamation Award reflects the importance of long-term corporate commitment to reclamation.
  • Scholarships were also awarded to students in the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering School of Mining.

The evening is always high-spirited and exciting with musical entertainment, dinner and awards. Local talent, 6 Minute Warning, provided entertainment for the evening.
