Responsys Strengthens Marketing Technology Infrastructure to Support Rapid Growth

New CIO Don Smith Announces New Network at AT&T Internet Data Center

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 25, 2006 -- Responsys, a premier provider of on-demand email and lifecycle marketing solutions, today announced that it has significantly enhanced its technology infrastructure with the addition of an industry-leading data center. The new infrastructure, hosted by AT&T at its new San Jose, California Internet Data Center (IDC), allows Responsys to offer faster data import, message compilation, and email throughput to a rapidly growing worldwide customer base. It also supports critical product innovations such as the Web services API and Goodmail integration introduced last month with Responsys Interact® 5.6, the newest release of the company's leading email marketing platform.

"One of the key reasons why we selected Responsys is because they have the best and most reliable infrastructure in the industry," said Lee Reams II, President of ClientWhys, Inc. "Our email delivery rates have skyrocketed, our campaigns go out at lightening speed, and we don't have to work around down-time or scalability issues."

Designed with security as a cornerstone, the new network is highly redundant and fully load balanced for optimum performance. The network, which went live in early August and was deployed in conjunction with Responsys Interact 5.6, features technology that will allow Responsys to meet the infrastructure requirements of future product releases.

"At Responsys, we invest heavily in both our products and infrastructure to support highly sophisticated and complex marketing programs," said Don Smith, chief information officer at Responsys. "Our new network, hosted by AT&T, gives our customers peace-of-mind that their marketing programs are powered by the most reliable, scalable and robust platform in the industry."

Smith joined Responsys in March 2006 to scale the technology operations to meet Responsys' rapid market growth and maintain the company's tradition of technology leadership. Responsys was ranked number one in overall business value and suitability by JupiterKagan in 2005 and cited as a leader in the December 2005 Forrester Wave: Email Marketing Service Providers, Q4 2005.

Smith, who co-founded Clarify Inc., brings more than 20 years of technology and operational expertise to the Responsys team, including driving the entire development lifecycle of Clarify's flagship products. He also served as senior vice president of customer advocacy at Extensity, where he was responsible for Extensity's on-demand solution, IT, professional services, and customer support.
