Ressources Appalaches Acquires Bornite Hill Property

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 18, 2006) - Ressources Appalaches (TSX VENTURE:APP) has acquired from Quinto Technology Inc. (TSX VENTURE:QU) an option to earn a 50% interest in the Bornite Hill copper property near Mont Laurier, Quebec in consideration of one million dollars of exploration work to be performed on the property over a period of five years. The operator of the project will be Ressources Appalaches.

Six short holes drilled by Quinto were all located on a single geophysical anomaly. The drilling outlined significant grades of copper such as 0.57% Cu over 22.8 metres and 1.27% copper over 3.8 metres. None of the drill holes penetrated the mineralized zone deeper than 45 metres and five other geophysical anomalies remain to be drilled. Ressources Appalaches considers this property to be an important prospect for possible extensions of the identified mineralization, at depth and laterally. The Company intends to conduct a follow-up drill campaign to test mineralization at depth.

Quinto's six short drill holes encountered copper mineralization along a 200 metre strike length. The mineralization corresponds perfectly with a large geophysical anomaly over 450 in length and open in both directions. Five other parallel anomalies remain to be explored. The following table summarizes the Quinto drill program's important results.

Anomalous grades in gold, platinum and paladium are noted in most of the drill holes including 1.1 g/t Au over 1.2 metres and 0.8 ppm Pt over 1.06 metres in hole CB-06-05.

The Bornite Hill property comprises 225 claims that cover an area of 12,356 hectares located northeast of Mont Laurier. It is located in the central metasedimentary belt of the Grenville geological province. The copper mineralization occurs as a skarn in the form of disseminated sulphides (pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and bornite) in calcosilicate rocks.
