Ressources Appalaches: First Drilling Campaign on the Ashini Uranium Property

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Ressources Appalaches (TSX VENTURE:APP) announces the start of a program of twenty (20) boreholes on its Ashini uranium property, located on Quebec's North Shore. The purpose of the drilling is to assess the uranium content of the pegmatite veins observed on surface over a distance of 4.7 kilometres. These veins are part of a major geologic structure that extends for more than 70 kilometres. Appalaches holds exclusive mineral rights over the twenty (20) kilometres of this structure that offer the highest potential for a uranium discovery. In undertaking this work Ressources Appalaches is targeting the discovery of a major uranium deposit with low grades but very large tonnage, suitable for surface mining.

The boreholes will therefore be short, and concentrated in Zone 3, where a number of trenches have been excavated in an area 600 metres long and 350 metres wide. The objective of this drilling is to evaluate the near-surface uranium grades of the pegmatites sampled in outcrop.

The trenching carried out in 2007 has so far identified four zones of uranium mineralization. The grades of selected samples range from 0.02% to 0.22% U. These four zones run parallel to a major geologic structure marked by a strong magnetic anomaly. All the zones are open both laterally and in depth.

Appalaches holds eleven other uranium properties on the North Shore, and this drilling campaign marks the start of a program of drill evaluation of several of these potentially uranium-bearing properties.
