Restaurant Cassis Serves Up Italian-Inspired French Cuisine in a Relaxed Neighborhood Setting

New Bistro in Lower Pacific Heights Offers a Free "Blanc Cassis" Cocktail to All Diners During Its Grand Opening Month

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 15, 2007 -- A Blanc Cassis cocktail is "on the house" for each guest who dines at Restaurant Cassis during the month of May 2007. The white wine cocktail mixed with crème de cassis liqueur is offered in celebration of the grand opening of this new French bistro, which is scheduled to open its doors for business today at 5:30 p.m. Cassis is located at 2101 Sutter Street, on the corner of Sutter and Steiner, in San Francisco's Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood.

Co-owners Stephane and Jerome Meloni, stated, "We are very excited to officially open the doors to Cassis after several months of preparation. Chef Stephane Meloni and Manager Jerome Meloni bring more than 20 years of combined experience in the restaurant and food service industries to this new venture, having previously owned and operated two restaurants in Antibes, France. Through the creation of Cassis, the two brothers look forward to sharing with their guests the authentic home cooking inspired by their childhood in the South of France.

Cassis offers a variety of traditional French specialties, and features cuisine from the South of France, including both French and Italian-inspired dishes from the owners' hometown of Nice. Cassis specializes in regional dishes such as Farcis Niçois (roasted vegetables stuffed with meat), Pissaladière (traditional Niçoise onion tart) and Daube Niçoise (beef stew cooked with red wine and herbs), along with a variety of pasta dishes and Neapolitan-style thin crust pizza with a French flair. The menu will also include classic French and "bistro-style" cuisine such as Fondue Savoyarde, Steak Frîtes, Duck Confit, Tarte Tatin and Fondue au Chocolat. In addition, Cassis offers a full bar and a selection of French, Italian and California wines.
