Restaurant in Bradford, England Hosts Rugby Players' Association's Event

Yorkshire Carnegie Academy Rugby Players Cook Up a Storm at Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel & Country Club

BRADFORD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Feb 5, 2015) - Yorkshire Carnegie Academy players swapped their studs for chef whites this week, spending the day learning how to cook healthy and nutritious food, at Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel & Country Club, a luxury hotel in Bradford, England.

Organised as part of The Rugby Players' Association's (RPA) Player Development Programme (PDP), the players took cooking lessons from chefs at one of the best restaurants in Bradford.

The hotel's senior chefs, Raj Chinnadurai and Myles King, supervised by Yorkshire Carnegie's nutritionist, Debbie Smith, spent the day educating the players on how to eat the right food, to give their bodies the most energy and stamina to continue in their rugby careers.

The under-21 players learnt how to make a nutritional meal of chicken cacciatore, served on a bed of spaghetti, with a side of mixed leaf salad at the Bradford, England, event space. This meal caters to a rugby player's strict diet of low salt, high protein and low fat foods.

The team was also able to tee off at Hollins Hall's 18-hole golf course with golf pro Chris Kelby, giving the players down time and a chance to relax at the Bradford golf club.

"As Marriott Hotels & Resorts is the title sponsor for the Marriott London Sevens and official partner of England Rugby, the day gave us the chance to build a relationship with the RPA and give our local rugby union team an insight into the hospitality industry -- providing the under 21's with culinary skills and golfing tips," Natalie Wild, Hollins Hall's, HR Manager, said.

One player who thoroughly enjoyed the day was academy winger Dan Tai.

"I found the whole day extremely enjoyable," Tai said. "It was fantastic to experience what it's like working in a hotel catering kitchen. Having never been a good cook I learnt several new tricks, which I can now take back and hopefully improve what I eat at home. It was also great fun to learn more about golf, and to hit the driving range with my teammates."
