RESULTS Canada/Media Advisory: July 11 Roll, Skate, Pedal Against Poverty in Gatineau

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 7, 2010) - RESULTS Canada, in association with Diku Dilenga (Canada) and Oxfam Canada is holding a special event this Sunday, July 11 starting at 1 pm to mark World Population Day. Individuals and families will roll on bicycles and inline stakes to reduce hunger and extreme poverty in the developing world. The event will take place on the beautiful bicycle paths of Gatineau (Québec), with a starting point at Parc Moussette, in the Val-Tétreau area of the Hull Sector.

Individuals and families interested in taking part in this fundraising event are invited to download and print a pledge list at www.tiny.cc/rollpoverty to collect pledges and donations from friends, family and colleagues in support of their efforts. Those without pledges can register nonetheless by paying a modest entrance fee. Participants can register and hand their pledge list and donations prior to the official start at Parc Moussette. Many participation prizes will be awarded and activities will be planned for families present at Parc Moussette during the afternoon.

Who: Cyclists, inline skaters and families ready to roll will be amassing funds to fight against extreme poverty.
   
What: The first edition of "Roll, Skate and Pedal Against Poverty in Gatineau" will allow cyclists and skaters to choose between a family course of 20 km using the Voyageurs Pathway or a course of 40 km using the Voyageurs and Pionniers Pathways.
   
When: Sunday July 11, 2010
  1 pm Registration opens, participants arrive and activities begin
  2 pm Official start (although participants may begin when they wish to do so)
  5 pm Drawing of participants' prizes
  6 pm End of the event at Parc Moussette
   
  The event will be postponed to the following Sunday in case of rain.
   
Where: Outside the Pavillon Tétreau in Parc Moussette, on the corner of Prévost and Boudria St. in the Hull Sector of Gatineau.
   
Why: The United Nations' World Population Day seeks to raise awareness of global population issues such as hunger and extreme poverty. By participating in the event, cyclists and skaters can do their part to help fight against hunger and extreme poverty by rolling to collect funds for Diku Dilenga, Oxfam Canada and RESULTS Canada.
