New LinkedIn Service Shows the Power That Social Networks Play in the Job Hunt

ANN ARBOR, MI--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2011) - Technology is turning the job search process on its head as an increasing amount of job seekers connect directly with companies and recruiters through social networks like LinkedIn.

Sensing this growing demand, one resume service has begun to help jobseekers improve their LinkedIn profiles.

"Customers are actually asking us for it now, and there are not a lot of firms that are offering it," said Brian McCullough, owner of www.resumeservice.com. "It's just as important as a resume now in terms of branding yourself."

Landing a job continues to be a tough process for both recent college graduates and experienced professionals. The U.S. unemployment rate was 9.1% for August and hasn't changed much since April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Also, the recent recession has had a major impact on the length of a typical job search, the Bureau reports.

With such intense job competition, many candidates are turning to social networks like LinkedIn, Ecademy and XING to network, target prospective companies and even directly contact recruiters.

But just like a resume, a LinkedIn profile needs to successfully highlight a jobseeker's skills, experience and accomplishments. A LinkedIn profile includes summary, experience, education, recommendations and additional information sections. There are also customizable sections like skills and applications that jobseekers can use to make their profile stand out.

Resumeservice.com charges $199.95 for the standalone LinkedIn profile service, or $90 as an add-on to their Professional, Executive, Student or CV services. If the job seeker orders the add-on service, the resume writer will first collaborate with the job seeker on enhancing their resume. Once the job seeker is satisfied with the resume, the writer will ask additional questions to help fill out the LinkedIn profile.

The LinkedIn service will also help the writer in requesting connections and recommendations from relevant professionals in their specific industries. Visit www.resumeservice.com/linkedin to learn more about the new service offering.
