Retailer Trials New Ways to Pay for Rural Customers

CARDIFF, WALES--(Marketwire - Jan. 20, 2011) - South Wales based retail and finance provider, Buy As You View, is trialling additional ways to pay to make it easier for the 1.5m rural customers across South Wales and the UK to access its goods and services.

Recent customer research by the company revealed that 30 per cent of its rural customers would find alternatives to the coin meter payment system, which requires manual collection by a dedicated customer account manager, easier to manage. Responding to this request, Buy As You View is trialling direct debit payments with customers in Haverford West, with a Paypoint option for those without access to an account suitable for direct debit, with a view to rolling out across other remote UK regions if successful.

Andrew Deeley, Commercial Director at Buy As You View explains:

"Our core business revolves around the customers' home. Goods purchased from our catalogue or online are delivered direct to the home and payments for these goods are collected in eight weekly instalments by our dedicated account managers, again directly from the customers' home. Introducing alternative ways to pay to the coin meter will make it easier for customers in remote geographic areas to access and pay for our goods and services."

Removing the need to visit customers at home for payments will also reduce the cost to serve these accounts as well as cutting the company's carbon footprint through reduced mileage of its account management team.
