Retailers Prepare for Sales Rush at Brent Cross Shopping Centre

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 26, 2008) -

Editors note: A video is included with this release.

Tonight, retailers will be preparing for the sales, and its two busiest trading days of the year, Boxing Day and 27 December. From Boxing Day, Brent Cross will have almost all 125 stores open, offering customers discounts of up to 80% as they look to clear sales stock by mid January. Brent Cross' biggest retailers, such as John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Fenwick all start their sales on 27th December.

Norman Black, from Brent Cross Shopping Centre, says; "Although shoppers have already seen some great discounting prior to Christmas, the average reduction was around 25% on selected lines. Post Christmas, customers can expect to see discounts of up to 80% on a much wider range of products."

Black continues; "People seeking the best bargains should shop early as retailers will aim to clear stock quickly. Customers can expect big discounts in the sales this year - particularly on fashion and footwear - with many retailers offering 50% off many items, but also heavier discounts of up to 80%. This, in part, is a result of sluggish trading nationwide in October/November and a slow December, despite a late pre-Christmas rush.

"Retailers will want to clear goods by mid January, before customers are back at work and new season products go into store."

Brent Cross is open until 6pm on Christmas Eve, 10am - 6pm on Boxing Day and 8am - 8pm on 27 December and is the only major shopping centre in London to offer free parking.
