Retale Launches Apple Watch App

Mobile Shopping Platform Enters Wearable Category

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2015) - Retale (www.retale.com), a location-based mobile platform connecting more than 3.5 million shoppers with their favorite major retailers locally, today announced that the Retale app for Apple Watch will be available for download tomorrow, April 24, the day the new device officially hits stores nationwide.

Retale's Apple Watch app builds upon the intuitive location-based features users have become accustomed to in using Retale on iOS. It also adds important new functions including geo-fencing proximity alerts that allow users to clip coupons inside the app. The proximity alerts send notifications when users are close to stores where the clipped coupons can be redeemed. In addition, the Retale Apple Watch platform utilizes Retale's drive-to-store emphasis by making its "Store Finder" a key component.

"The launch of Apple Watch marks a significant opportunity for retailers to engage consumers on wearable devices," said Pat Dermody, President of Retale. "Retailers have seen how beneficial smartphones are to connect with consumers on-the-go. The shift to wearables will only drive that further, enabling them to use these devices to share more meaningful content with local shoppers."

Retale's Apple Watch app also includes features to help users navigate their surroundings to stay on top of the latest offers and track down the best deals locally, including nearby retailer options and intuitive map routing. The app provides retailers with an opportunity to act on in-app consumer intent and actions by giving users up-to-date information about local stores and special offers right to users' wrists.

While these features are available immediately at the launch, Retale is developing more advanced functionality that will be added to the app in the coming weeks.

"We're developing new features for our users that will work seamlessly for shoppers with an Apple Watch," said Dermody. "We know shoppers often have their hands full, so providing them with access to the app via an Apple Watch on their wrist will make it a perfect retail shopping companion."

Retale replicates the print circular experience in a digital format, providing more than 3.5 million mobile shoppers with access to in-store deals and promotions from more than 140 major retailers through the Retale website, mobile app and now wearable technology. All information is location-based, making it possible for shoppers to find the best deal at a store nearby. For retailers, Retale provides new opportunities to reach circular readers who are migrating from print-to-digital, as well as a new generation of shoppers who are more likely to shop in-store while using smartphones, tablets or wearable devices to support them.
