Retired Intel Chairman and CEO Craig Barrett Touts Tallwave's Venture Capitalist Event in Silicon Valley for High Tide Entrepreneur Finalists

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 6, 2013) - In a June 5 tech blog post of The Mercury News, retired Intel Chairman of the Board and CEO Craig Barrett, Ph.D. highlighted the pack of venture capitalists invited to a Tallwave invitation only event being held this evening at the law offices of Perkins Coie in Palo Alto. The event is co-sponsored by Silicon Valley Bank.

A self-described "commercializor," Tallwave is disrupting the traditional incubator / accelerator model with a proprietary and unique approach to the commercialization of startups and early-stage ventures. Following similar events held in Phoenix and Tucson, the Silicon Valley VC event is designed to provide the six finalists of Tallwave's innovative startup competition "High Tide" with introductions to potential investors.

Each High Tide finalist also received a cash grant of $15,000 for use in company operational expenses, and an additional $35,000 in scholarships for either "Product Market Fit" or "Go-to-Market" services from Tallwave's Venture Services Group.

"Tallwave's services are designed to provide entrepreneurs with the resources, funding and support to bring their ideas to commercialization with less risk and more effectiveness," said Jeffrey Pruitt, CEO of Tallwave. "The VC pitch events are one of the many ways we help our companies get recognized for their innovations that will ultimately create jobs and transform communities."

Hailing from across the U.S., the finalists of Tallwave's inaugural High Tide competition are:

  • Convrrt (Chandler, AZ); provides the highest lead converting SEM campaign websites that can be built in under 15 minutes.
  • Creative Allies (Santa Monica, CA); is changing the way branded merchandise is designed and sold.
  • ExchangeMeds (Denver, CO); an online marketplace which allows pharmacies to find prescriptions in short supply and trade excess inventory before it expires.
  • LocalWork.com (Phoenix, AZ); an employment resource focused on helping connect local employers with local job seekers.
  • Obelus Media (Boston, MA); delivering advertising content using existing software and media infrastructure.
  • SaveOnCouriers.com (Phoenix, AZ); an online marketplace for local same-day delivery service.
