Retirement of Sparton Chairman


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2014) - Sparton Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SRI) ("The Company"), announced today that its Chairman, Mr. Edward G. Thompson, is reducing his activity in the junior mining sector and, according, has resigned effective immediately, as a member of the Company Board of Directors and as its Corporate Secretary.

Ed Thompson has been associated with Sparton as a Director and at various times its President and Corporate Secretary over three decades. As a sustaining force for the Company, he supported its activities through numerous economic cycles and his efforts are acknowledged by everyone associated with Sparton.

Sparton Management, and the Board on its own behalf, and on behalf of the shareholders, all wish to thank him for his contributions to the Company and wish him well in his future pursuits. Mr. Thompson has agreed to provide consulting services going forward should his travel and retirement plans permit.

Wes Roberts, a current Sparton director, has been appointed Company Corporate Secretary.
