Retransmission: Toronto Ribfest-200,000 People Gettin' Messy at Canada Day Weekend-Long Party Designed to Eradicate Child Hunger Nutritiously

Four-Day Food and Music Festival Is Toronto's Largest Charity Event

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 25, 2013) - This coming Canada Day long weekend, Toronto will show Ottawa's Parliament Hill how to party Hogtown style with its annual Toronto Ribfest. The undisputed champion of Ribfests, and the biggest event of its kind in Canada, the Toronto Ribfest will see over 50,000 people a day getting messy and having a great time for a good cause.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Etobicoke, Toronto Ribfest is the meat-lover's culinary event of the year as attendees will watch in awe as 16 of the best BBQ masters in the land (12 teams from Ontario) compete for bragging rights for the "best ribs". Attendees will also enjoy two professional stages with live bands and high-calibre entertainment.

For families with kids, Toronto Ribfest offers a Kidz Zone with face painting, music and magic shows, and an expanded midway and carnival.

The annual rib-rocking event will continue its ambitious Rotary Food Initiative with a goal to eradicate child hunger nutritiously and promote food security in Toronto. Attendees will be asked for a $2 donation for admission. The theme of the festival is ending child hunger.

"Toronto Ribfest is the most fun you'll ever have for a good cause," said Hugh Williams, President of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke. "Each year we hope to raise money and awareness for child food and nutrition programs. This year we've added a child hunger relief concert. Not only are we helping kids, but we're having a great time doing it."

Rib fans are invited to attend Toronto Sounds of Summer, a special child hunger relief musical event on Thursday June 27th. Featuring the sounds Jersey Boys, Four Seasons, the Beach Boys, Rascals, and more this new night before Ribfest event will be hosted at Centennial Park and cost only $12.

In addition to funds raised at the gate for local food programs, Rotary event organizers hope to raise close to $250,000 for the many community and international organizations and projects the club supports.
