Revision to Lists of Electors Begins

Canadian electors can now make changes or add their names

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2008) -

- Elections Canada has started revising the preliminary lists of electors for all polling divisions. Preliminary lists of electors are produced using information in the National Register of Electors.

- Electors who are not on the list or who are listed at the wrong address can ask for a revision by contacting their local Elections Canada office.

- Door-to-door targeted revision will be conducted in selected areas throughout the revision period. Registration kits will be left if no contact has been made after two visits.

- Voter information cards will be mailed to all registered electors between Wednesday, September 17 and Friday, September 19, 2008. An elector who has not received a card by Wednesday, September 24, 2008, or who receives a card with incorrect information, may contact the Elections Canada office in his or her electoral district to correct the information.

- A reminder card will be mailed to every Canadian residence between Wednesday, September 24 and Friday, September 26, 2008.

"I encourage all eligible voters to make sure they are on the voters list and that their information is correct and up to date. Just contact the local returning office and we will be happy to help you," says Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand.

Elections Canada is an independent body set up by Parliament.
