Revitalized Sails of Light at Canada Place to Support Local Charities

Upgrades add colour and light to downtown Vancouver's waterfront

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Feb. 25, 2015) - Upgraded lighting equipment and technology at Canada Place is enhancing the visual experience on downtown Vancouver's waterfront. The revitalized Sails of Light at Canada Place will project a striking celebration of colour and light on the iconic sails at Canada Place, viewable from various points along Vancouver's waterfront.

Upgraded LED lighting technology will provide brighter colours and increase the intensity of light projections, allowing for more imagery.

"We are really excited about how vibrant the new Sails of Light at Canada Place will look on the waterfront," said Tom Corsie, President, Canada Place Corporation and Vice President of Real Estate, Port Metro Vancouver. "It will be a visual treat for everyone to enjoy daily from dusk to dawn in downtown Vancouver, and will provide a great opportunity for local charities to promote their cause."

As the owner and operator of Canada Place, Port Metro Vancouver is offering local charities and non-profit events the opportunity to build awareness for their cause or organization by illuminating the Sails of Light at Canada Place in appropriate colours of their choice. To kick off the initiative, the Sails of Light at Canada Place will be lit completely pink the evening of February 25, in support of the CKNW Orphans Fund Pink Shirt Day. CKNW has launched an exciting social media campaign with the goal of spreading positivity and kindness on the internet. To take part, participants are asked to upload a photo or tag a friend on facebook, twitter or instagram that they would like to say something positive about, and include the hashtag #PinkItForward. For every use of this hashtag, Coast Capital Savings will donate $1 to Pink Shirt Day, funding anti-bullying programs in BC.

The Sails of Light at Canada Place are viewable from the west, with prime viewing locations including Stanley Park, the Coal Harbour seawall, the Vancouver Convention Centre West and the surrounding waterways. Charitable organizations interested in having their cause highlighted by the Sails of Light at Canada Place are asked to visit www.canadaplace.ca, or email sailsoflight@portmetrovancouver.com for more information.
