IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - September 16, 2010) -  RFaxis, a fabless semiconductor company focused on innovative, next-generation RF solutions for the wireless and connectivity markets, announced today the commercial availability of its highly demanded complete silicon-based single-chip dual-band RF Front-end IC (RFeIC™), designated the RFX5024, designed for WLAN 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (802.11n/a/b/g) applications including:

  • Consumer and enterprise WLAN server devices such as access points, routers and gateways. 
  • Ultra mobile productivity devices such as notebooks, netbooks, smartbooks, and e-readers.
  • Cellular handsets and smartphones.

Supporting the 802.11n (MIMO) WLAN standard, and optimized for transmit and receive applications in both the full 802.11b/g (2.4 to 2.5 GHz) and 802.11a (4.9 to 5.95 GHz) frequency bands, the RFX5024 seamlessly integrates dual-band power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, RF switching and power detector circuitry, harmonic filtering, and CMOS compatible control logic into a standard 4mm x 4mm x 0.5mm QFN package. Furthermore, the RFX5024 is RF-matched on-chip, thereby eliminating the need for external matching components. The RFX5024 delivers a maximum linear power greater than 20 dBm at standard data rates, and greater than 17 dBm at high data rates. Furthermore, the RFX5024 delivers a gain greater than 20 dBm at a bias voltage of 3.3 volts. For a lower bias voltage of just 2.3 volts, the RFX5024 can still deliver a maximum linear power greater than 15 dBm for 54 Mbps OFDM signal with EVM less than 3.5 percent, making the RFX5024 ideal for ultra-mobile, low battery voltage applications. The unparalleled integration, plug & play design and miniature footprint of the RFX5024 greatly simplifies the design of new generation Wi-Fi enabled products and accelerates their time-to-market.
