RFaxis Announces Shipment of the World's Only Complete Single-Chip/Single Silicon Die 5 GHz RF Front-End IC Chip

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - September 14, 2010) -  RFaxis, a fabless semiconductor company focused on innovative, next-generation RF solutions for the wireless and connectivity markets, announced today the commercial availability of its highly anticipated single-chip/single-die RF Front-end IC (RFeIC™) designed for 802.11a/n wireless connectivity applications in the 5 GHz frequency band. This complete silicon-based RF-matched RF Front-end solution, designated the RFX5008, is currently sampling and is available for commercial shipment.

The RFX5008 is a single-chip/single-die RF Front-end IC on silicon that covers the full 802.11a/n frequency band (4.9 to 5.95 GHz). The RFX5008 is ideal for all 5 GHz systems and comes complete with a power amplifier, low noise amplifier, switching, on-chip harmonic filters, power detection, CMOS compatible control logic and high level ESD protection on all package pins. The RFX5008 delivers a maximum linear power greater than 17dBm for 54Mbps and above 20dBm for 6Mbps OFDM signal at a gain greater than 20dBm at a bias voltage of 3.3 volts. For a lower bias voltage of just 2.3 volts, the RFX5008 can still deliver a maximum linear power greater than 15dBm for 54Mbps OFDM signal with EVM less than 3.5 percent, making the RFX5008 ideal even for ultra-mobile, low battery voltage applications. The RFX5008 RFeIC is now commercially available in a standard 3x3x0.5mm QFN package.
