RFaxis Wins Design in Airvana State-of-the-Art Femtocell Product

The RFaxis High Performance Penta-Band Mobile Broadband and Active GPS Antennas Selected by Airvana for Latest Femtocell Access Point

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - March 2, 2011) - RFaxis, a fabless semiconductor company focused on innovative, next-generation RF solutions for the wireless connectivity and mobility markets announced today that its high performance ATG-EM18190201 penta-band mobile broadband antenna and ATG-GP1515 GPS active antenna have been selected by Airvana for use in their HubBub™ CDMA femtocell. Airvana femtocells are deployed by tier-1 mobile operators in the U.S. and Japan.

Unlike traditional pure-play antenna companies, RFaxis leverages its combined antenna and CMOS RF Front-end IC design expertise to create next-generation high gain/high performance antennas, enhanced with on-board embedded gain-boost ICs that seamlessly support the latest 2G/3G/3.5G/4G protocols.

The RFaxis ATG-EM18190201 penta-band antenna package (BC0/6) used by Airvana provides broad coverage for all major cellular frequencies, and enables femtocell access points and gateways to communicate with cellular customer premises equipment (CPE) via AMPS/CDMA/GSM/PCS/UMTS signals. In addition, the RFaxis ATG-GPSP1515 active GPS antenna module for Airvana comes complete with internal low-noise amplifiers (LNA), and not only synchronizes the local femtocell clock, but also lets carriers know the exact position of respective femtocell base stations.

"We are very pleased that RFaxis has teamed up with Airvana to deliver dramatic value to mobile operators," said Mike Neshat, chairman and CEO of RFaxis, Inc. "With the backdrop of a compelling femtocell market, it is critical for leading carriers to find ways to develop and deploy innovative data and multimedia services with superior performance. As we all know, without the antenna, wireless connectivity can't happen. Unfortunately, antenna architecture and design, much like RF circuit architecture and design, can be very challenging. While many solution providers strive to simply turn on a wireless connection, RFaxis goes above and beyond to find innovative ways to ensure this connection is optimized and stays on. By leveraging both our antenna and IC expertise, our RF teams are continuously creating multi-band antenna solutions for mobile and integrated CPE that support the major wireless standards, including GSM/CDMA, 3G/4G/LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, GPS and ZigBee, to serve all carriers, wireless internet service providers (WISP) and enterprise/residential solution providers."
