RFS Announces Next Phase of Broadcasting Solution Deployment at NYC's One World Trade Center

Variable Polarization Technology Will Enable One World Trade to Be a Premier Transmission Site for Over-the-Air Broadcasting

MERIDEN, CT--(Marketwired - Mar 23, 2016) - Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), a global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist, announced today that the Durst Organization has ordered several RFS antennas to proceed with the installation of a terrestrial broadcasting solution at One World Trade Center (ONE WTC) in New York City. RFS' PEP antenna arrays with Variable Polarization Technology (VPT) will enable broadcasters to set their own polarization ratios, independent of other broadcasters. This flexibility will prove particularly essential as channels and standards change as a result of the imminent U.S. broadcast television spectrum repacking program.

Last year, RFS announced that it was working closely with Metropolitan Television Alliance (MTVA), The Durst Organization and individual broadcasters, on UHF and VHF trial arrays at One World Trade -- the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere -- to demonstrate how the system and venue would perform to deliver terrestrial television services to the entire NYC coverage area. Now, following successful results, plans are proceeding for permanent installation of RFS' PEP40E variable polarization UHF array antennas along with a 662-16D circularly polarized VHF array antenna. The order also includes radiation pattern testing at the RFS antenna test range and on-site installation supervision services by RFS field engineers. Myat, Inc. is serving as project manager.

RFS antennas will ship this spring and installation will begin in summer 2016.  RFS also recently announced the addition of expansive indoor and outdoor space at its Meriden, CT facility designated exclusively for the production and testing of its state-of-the-art broadcast products to better serve the needs of the U.S. market.
