Now, the company has announced that its premium enterprise app will be made available in several new markets, including countries across Europe. Indeed, though Evernote Business originally launched in just seven countries, it is now expanding to countries throughout the European Union, as well as Norway and Iceland. In just a few more days, the app will also be available to users in New Zealand and Australia.
The expansion of Evernote Business is just one of several signs that Evernote is prospering. The company recently hired its first-ever Chief Operating Officer, Ken Gullicksen. The COO will largely work in overseeing the continued development of Evernote Business.
According to Gorman, the real story is not just that Evernote is expanding, but that it is doing so strategically. "Evernote has about 50 million subscribers, and of those 50 million, some 70 percent are outside the United States," he explains. "So when Evernote expands into Europe and Australia, it is really just capitalizing on its existing user base." Gorman also notes that many of these international Evernote users are already using the app to increase their work productivity; introducing the more formal features of Evernote Business is a step in the right direction for the company, Gorman notes.
"A lot of Evernote's users currently take advantage of the free app and its features, using them to boost their efficiency in their professional lives," Gorman continues. "Evernote is rolling out its enterprise app to them, rightly assuming that they are a natural audience for this new, paid service. The Evernote Business app will cost just about $10.00, and offers an array of features not present to free users. Among many of Evernote's current non-paying users, this premium enterprise service should almost sell itself."
The features offered to Business members are numerous, and include access to the Business Library, an information database that is controlled by an administrator. Business members also have access to Business Notebooks, which are different from the personal notebooks that Evernote provides; they can be shared with other Evernote users and shared to a company's Business Library. Business accounts also have increased allowances for data uploads, as well as increased sharing capabilities.
Gorman says that all of the happenings at Evernote suggest that the company is poised to become an even more dominant player among enterprise app users. "First and foremost, it is necessary to point out just how shrewdly and smartly Evernote has approached its own business expansion, how it is really tapping into its existing user base to help launch its new products," Gorman notes. "With that said, the product itself is absolutely stellar, and, for smaller and mid-sized businesses with information management needs, this technology could prove an enormous boon."
