Rick Santorum Joins a Host of Presidential Candidates in Their Commitment to Reduce Waste in Government by Utilizing Six Sigma Methods, Including Attending a 2 Day Training Course

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwire - Aug 11, 2011) - On July 28, 2011, Rick Santorum, former Pennsylvania Senator, became the sixth presidential candidate to sign the Strong America Now pledge to eliminate spending deficits and start paying down the national debt by 2017 using waste-reduction methods such as Lean Six Sigma.

The first to sign was former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich. Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, and most recently, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum have also signed the Pledge.

The Six Sigma community is buzzing with enthusiasm over the opportunity to apply these streamlining processes to government. Craig Setter is President and CEO of Aveta Business Institute, Six Sigma Online, a leading provider of online Lean Six Sigma courses aimed at businesses. He is thrilled about the buzz stating, "We know how well this process does work and how much money it can save businesses... I can't wait until its potential is unlocked by these candidates."

Michael George is the founder of Strong America Now, a nonprofit conservative political group aimed at eliminating the national debt with no new taxes through the use of the Lean Six Sigma Business strategy. Six Sigma is aimed at reducing waste and maximizing profits and quality for businesses; up until now, it has not been employed on such a mass scale for government process. However in specific departments, Six Sigma has been utilized and proven successful. There are over 25 case studies on the Strong America Now website demonstrating the success of six sigma lean processes in the government sector.

George is imploring candidates running for presidential nominations to sign a Lean Six Sigma Pledge: "to eliminate spending deficits and start paying down the national debt by 2017 by deploying Lean Six Sigma waste reduction methods to detect and eliminate 25 percent of spending per year across the federal government, and to attend two days of training on the Lean Six Sigma method and complete a waste reduction project prior to [their] inauguration."
