Rick Toothill and Kathleen O'Brien of Merck Recognized With 2011 Requirements Lifecycle Award

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Apr 14, 2011) -, the industry's largest consortium for the promotion and advancement of Business Analysis, today announced the winners of the 2011 Requirements Lifecycle Award. Rick Toothill, Manager and Kathleen O'Brien, Lead Business Analyst, both of Merck, a global healthcare leader, were honored with the award for their ongoing work in advancing the Business Analysis discipline within their organization.

Toothill and O'Brien's efforts at Merck began in 2002, with the goal of bringing together the Business Analysis community within the company. Their efforts have evolved into the present-day Analysis Skills Center, which acts as resource for over a hundred business analysts. This community of practice has been used to develop and promote best practices and solutions throughout Merck's globally distributed IT groups. In their ongoing efforts to improve their requirements and application development process, Merck has also adopted modern technology solutions including HP Application Lifecycle Management for Requirements and Quality Management, and Blueprint Requirements Center for requirements definition and management.

About the Requirements Lifecycle Award
The Requirements Lifecycle Award recognizes the achievements of individuals who have led transformations in their organization's software requirements lifecycle through education, process, and automation initiatives to reduce waste and inefficiencies. After a lengthy review process, a judging panel consisting of members selected the winner from among all the nominees. members include HP Software, Cap Gemini, Blueprint, BA Times, The Requirements Networking Group, Orasi Software, Cortechs, Zap Technologies, the Requirements Solutions Group, Centerline Partners, and SKY IT.

Founded by HP and Blueprint in 2008 and now thirteen members strong, is the industry's largest consortium for the advancement of Business Analysis empowerment. As prescribed in the charter, the call for members is opened only once a year, between January and March.
