"Mobile phone personalization is all about creativity and freedom of expression and we believe consumers deserve a place where they can connect with others and freely share their own content," said Yan-David Erlich, one of Ringtone Soup's founders. "By creating free and immediate access to ringtones, on the mobile phone and the PC, we are lowering the barrier to self-expression and bringing mobile customization to the next level."

With the new mobile site, users can search for and download their favorite ringtones through their mobile phone from anywhere without the need for a PC connection. The new mobile phone download service is another step in Ringtone Soup's mission to establish a free, easy, and quick solution for personalizing mobile devices. The company has offered the same functionality on the desktop at since December 2006, creating a community where users have the freedom to decide what ringtones they want to share, download and save.

"Providing access to Ringtone Soup directly from a mobile device enables users to take mobile phone customization into their own hands," said Lucas Ryan, co-founder of Ringtone Soup. "We'll be adding more features to the mobile site in parallel to our PC-based experience, but the core functionality that's been available on the desktop for a while -- being able to search, download, and share ringtones with friends -- is now up and running on the mobile device."

Users can easily browse the extensive library of audio clips -- which grows by several hundred new ringtones weekly as the Ringtone Soup community uploads new sounds -- from their mobile phone or PC by searching, scanning the community-created categories, or by viewing the five-star ranking system moderated by its users. Since the site's inception, users have classified tones into more than 5000 unique categories ranging from popular ones like "funny" and "theme" to more obscure ones like "banana" and "yell." Users can also easily determine what's new and popular on the site by checking out the most recent and most popular categories.
