Rise for a Cause! Yogathon Challenge

108 sun salutations / 365 days of education

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 13, 2015) - Rise for a Cause Yogathon is a reminder that there is plenty to be thankful, happy, and optimistic about. On Saturday, August 22, 12 cities in Canada and over 40 worldwide will rise for a cause - through yoga - to benefit Care for Children, a program providing free education to disadvantaged children in India.

We believe that yoga is more about touching your heart than touching your toes. Yoga enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to advanced, will challenge their mind and body to complete 108 sun salutations to help educate children through the Care for Children program.

More than a fundraiser, Rise for a Cause Yogathon is a community-building event and a global initiative of the Art of Living Foundation to raise awareness about children and their right to an education. From six Canadian cities in 2012, 12 cities will participate this year and roll out their mats on August 22, including: Halifax, Charlottetown, Montreal, Ottawa, Windsor, London, Yorkton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Care for Children is changing the lives of over 43,000 underprivileged youth in rural India though 421 free schools. By having access to education through the Care for Children program, children are empowered with the tools, knowledge, skills and confidence they need to shape a better future for themselves, their families, their communities and the world.

About the challenge: Challenge yourself to complete 108 Sun Salutations (a dynamic sequence of yoga movements). The Yogathon initiative aims to create awareness about yoga and its role in a healthy lifestyle, while raising funds for Care for Children. It transcends the barriers of age, culture and physical ability.

About the Art of Living Foundation: The largest volunteer-based non-governmental organization (NGO) in the world. The Foundation's service projects, programs on meditation, yoga and stress elimination have benefited millions of people from all walks of life, cultures and traditions. Both Yogathon and Care for Children are initiatives of the Art of Living Foundation.
