Rise for a Cause! Yogathon Challenge

108 sun salutations / 365 days of education

Roll out your mat - Educate a child - Change the world!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 10, 2016) - On Saturday, August 20, join thousands of yoga enthusiasts for the fifth annual Rise for a Cause Yogathon. Eleven cities across Canada and over 50 cities worldwide will rise together for a cause - through yoga - to benefit Care for Children, a program providing free education to disadvantaged children in India.

More than a fundraiser, Rise for a Cause Yogathon is a community-building event and global initiative of the Art of Living Foundation to raise awareness about the right of children to an education and the role of yoga in a healthy lifestyle. This Canadian initiative has grown from six participating cities in Canada in 2012 to become a global movement. This year participants from Halifax, Montreal, Quebec City, Sarnia, Windsor, London, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Vancouver will roll out their yoga mats for the Yogathon challenge.

The Art of Living Foundation believes that yoga is more about touching the heart than touching the toes. Yoga practitioners of all levels, from beginner to advanced, will challenge their mind and body to complete 108 sun salutations to help educate children through the Care for Children program.

Care for Children is changing the lives of over 53,000 underprivileged youth in rural India though 425 free schools. By having access to education, these children are empowered with the tools, knowledge, skills and confidence they need to shape a better future for themselves, their families, their communities and the world. The Art of Living Foundation (AOLF) is the largest volunteer-based non-governmental organization (NGO) in the world.
