Rising Rapper Waka Flocka Flame to Release Debut Album "Flockaveli" October 5th

Nominated for Two BET Hip-Hop Awards

BURBANK, CA--(Marketwire - September 20, 2010) -  Rap music's newest rising star Juaquin Malphurs, better known as Waka Flocka Flame, will release his debut album Flockaveli on October 5th. Born in Queens, NY and raised in Atlanta, GA, Waka is the first artist to release an album under mentor Gucci Mane's 1017 Bricksquad imprint. The 17-track album features appearances from Wale, Roscoe Dash, Pastor Troy, and Young Money's Gudda Gudda among others, and was largely helmed by 19-year old Lexus "Lex Luger" Lewis whose biggest hits include Rick Ross' "B.M.F (Blowin' Money Fast)" and "MC Hammer." Fans can expect more "flocka music" from the LP, a style the rapper has coined that embodies high-energy, bass heavy music that embodies the fury found in acts like NWA and Onyx with a heavy southern influence that picks up where Lil' John's Crunk music left off. "You're gonna need some Gatorade or have to get your neck checked after listening to this," warns Waka. "The whole thing bangs from start to finish."

Waka Flocka Flame has been steadily servicing the area below the Mason Dixie with a slew of mixtapes and material over the last year in preparation for his first studio album including Salute Me or Shoot Me Vol. 1, Twin Towers, and Shootin' the Breeze Cookin' that Fire. These street albums have led to appearances in underground DVD's such as "Hood Affairs," "The Come Up," "Smack DVD," "Night Life" and "Raw Report." With each effort churning out street anthems and testimonials of his show-stopping sets making their rounds, Waka increased his buzz and demand for bookings in cities across the Southeast. "I started booking paid shows 7 months after I did my first mixtape," remembers Waka. "That was a crazy time. It all just took off so fast."

It was his first single "O Let's Do It," that earned Flame a fervent following in the South and was eventually remixed by industry heavyweights like Lil Wayne and Ludacris. The official remix, featuring Diddy and Rick Ross, further catapulted his profile and became a staple on BET's 106 & Park and MTV formats.

The second single "Hard In the Paint" was equally as popular and can be heard in arenas and sporting events across the country. The gritty viral video was shot on location in LA's infamous Jungle neighborhood. "I didn't go there to make a statement," explains Waka. "I went there because it's always a place I wanted to go. I like meeting people. They come out to everyone else's hood, so why not return the favor and show them some love." His most recent single, "No Hands" featuring Wale and Roscoe Dash, may become of his biggest singles to date. The bouncy ode to derrières has become a viral hit, radio favorite, and club staple.

Catch Waka Flocka Flame's performance on this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards where he is nominated for "Rookie of the Year" and "Best Club Banger" for "O Let's Do It" (airs October 12th).
