Risk of ESI Spoliation Caused by Employment Changes Mitigated With Fusion Employee Monitor™

Exterro's New Application Automatically Detects Employee Status Changes and Applies Corrective Actions to Protect Corporate Data Subject to Legal Hold and Other Business Obligations

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Feb 4, 2014) - Exterro Inc., the leading provider of workflow-driven e-discovery software, today unveiled Fusion Employee Monitor, its newest application designed to mitigate the risk of corporate data spoliation caused by employment changes. Fusion Employee Monitor detects employee status changes to ensure that critical information tied to business activities, legal matters or regulatory actions is adequately protected. Fusion Employee Monitor is being showcased, along with the full Exterro Fusion® suite, this week at LegalTech New York in Exterro booth #230.

"The risks associated with employee status changes are very real, as evidenced by several high profile cases in which parties have been sanctioned for failing to account for departed employee data," said Ted Gary, senior product marketing manager at Exterro. "Our clients came to us to address this dilemma. The ability for the Exterro Fusion platform to integrate with enterprise HR systems has enabled us to answer their needs with a versatile application."

According to the Society of Human Resources Management, the average annual employee separation rate is 13-15%. Large organizations easily experience 30 or more actionable employee status changes each week, creating substantial spoliation risk as computers are recycled, email accounts deleted, file shares purged and paper files destroyed. Manual approaches to protecting this data in the wake of employment changes are time consuming and error-prone. Fusion Employee Monitor automates this process by detecting, correcting and tracking changes, with built-in audit trails for demonstrating compliance with legal or regulatory obligations.

Fusion Employee Monitor interoperates with corporate HR and IT systems to detect employee status changes, such as terminations, retirements, leave-of-absences and transfers. The system automatically applies user-defined actions, which can include alerting stakeholders or assigning tasks that direct them to take corrective action, to ensure all impacted electronically stored information (ESI) is protected. Fusion Employee Monitor works in tandem with Exterro's Fusion Legal Hold application as well as a standalone product.

More information about Fusion Employee Monitor is available at Exterro's LegalTech booth, #230, taking place Feb. 4-6 at The Hilton New York in New York City, and on Exterro's website at: http://www.exterro.com/ediscovery-software/legal-hold/employee-monitor.
