RIT Selects WildPackets' OmniPeek for Undergraduate Curriculum in Applied Networking and Systems Administration

WALNUT CREEK, CA--(Marketwire - March 29, 2011) - WildPackets, Inc. (http://www.wildpackets.com), a leading provider of network and application performance analysis solutions, today announced that Rochester Institute of Technology (http://www.rit.edu) will utilize its OmniPeek Enterprise Network Analyzer for student training as part of its unique coursework in networking, security and systems administration.

Created in 2002, the RIT Bachelor of Science in Applied Networking and System Administration (ANSA) degree from the Department of Networking, Security, and Systems Administration (NSSA) (http://nssa.rit.edu) is the first program of its kind to answer the increasing need for advanced studies in network infrastructure, wireless communications, computing systems administration and network administration. Students that graduate from the ANSA program have the best preparation in the world for what they are educated to do. No other university has a program in this discipline with the level of depth in theory and practice that students receive here in the NSSA department at RIT.

"We're excited to participate in NSSA's outstanding curriculum and help train future networking professionals," said Tony Barbagallo, Vice President of Marketing at WildPackets. "With OmniPeek, students will get hands-on experience with the network monitoring and analysis tools that they will find in real-world deployments."

OmniPeek provides real-time visibility and expert analysis into the entire network from a single interface, including Ethernet, Gigabit, 10 Gigabit, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, VoIP, and video to remote offices. Network engineers using OmniPeek can monitor, analyze and troubleshoot network issues in real time, as well as perform detailed post-mortem forensics analysis.

"OmniPeek is a valuable network management and troubleshooting solution in real-world deployment scenarios," said Bruce Hartpence, associate professor at RIT. "And now OmniPeek is playing a critical part in our students' development."
