The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco Glows Pink for the Month of October in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

San Francisco's Premier Hotel Destination Continues Its Collaboration With Breast Cancer Emergency Fund for the Second Year, Offering Pink-Inspired Specialties

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2015) - The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco is going pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the second consecutive year. Throughout the month of October, the iconic downtown hotel's grand exterior will be illuminated in the color of the symbolic ribbon to show support for this important cause. Guests and locals alike will be invited to support Bay Area-based Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) -- dedicated to providing emergency financial assistance to low-income women and men battling breast cancer -- via a host of unique offerings created by the hotel's culinary team.

From Pink Afternoon Tea in The Lounge to a blush-colored "Pink Promise" cocktail, available in both The Lounge and Parallel 37, The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco will donate $10 for every Pink Afternoon Tea seating and $1 for every "Pink Promise" cocktail sold throughout the month of October to the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund.

"We are very excited to partner with Breast Cancer Emergency Fund again this year to bring attention to this meaningful cause," said Bruce Gorelick, general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. "As part of our company-wide social and environmental responsibility program, Community Footprints, we are dedicated to supporting our friends and neighbors battling breast cancer. These month-long offerings were designed both to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raise funding for this important local organization, which has delivered over $2,000,000 in quick, compassionate care since 2001."

The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco will also encourage guests to support Breast Cancer Emergency Fund's signature event -- "This Old Bag" -- by donating gently used designer handbags to the concierge throughout the month. On Friday, October 23, 2015, donations collected from the luxury hotel will join the array of handbags, clutches, manbags, and other gently used items to be auctioned off at San Francisco's Bentley Reserve to help women and men in need. "This Old Bag" accounts for a quarter of Breast Cancer Emergency Fund's annual operating budget -- a perfect reason for hotel guests to embrace Union Square's vibrant shopping scene.

"When The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco lights up pink to support Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF), it will launch a poignant campaign that highlights corporate philanthropy in our community and the power of business networks to inspire vendors, guests and the public to get involved," said Sandra Nathan, BCEF's Executive Director. "BCEF is honored to partner with The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco to raise visibility and vital funds for low-income women battling breast cancer in the Bay Area."
