The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco Whisks Members Away to Sonoma for an Exclusive Wine Event With Destination Cellars

Members of The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Program Are Invited to Take an Unforgettable Day Trip to California's Wine Country on November 2nd

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 16, 2013) -  The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco and Destination Cellars have joined forces to create Sonoma Private Wineries, an exclusive weekend experience for members of The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program on Saturday, November 2, 2013. The excursion features round-trip luxury coach transportation from The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco to Sonoma, lunch and wine tastings at Kosta Browne Winery, an afternoon excursion, dinner and wine tastings at Flanagan Vineyards and a two-night stay at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Both winery experiences will include the opportunity to meet the owners and winemakers, together with expert commentary throughout the day from Sean Q. Meyer who has worked as sommelier and wine director for some of the world's greatest culinary talent, including Chefs Thomas Keller, Frank Stitt and Tim McKee.

Named by Wine Spectator as the number one wine in the world in 2011, Kosta Browne began life as a dream shared by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne. Working at John Ash restaurant in Santa Rosa, Calif., they saved tip money and eventually had enough to buy a half-ton of Pinot Noir, a used barrel and an old hand-crank stemmer-crusher. Kosta Browne's dedication to quality, stewardship and commitment to customer relationships has propelled the brand to industry leader, producing some of the most sought after new world Pinot Noirs. To critical and public acclaim, the waiting list for this wine now exceeds three years.

In 1999, Flanagan Vineyards founder Eric Flanagan and his wife fell in love with unplanted land in Bennett Valley, Sonoma. A combination of volcanic soils, steep slopes, south aspect, and abundant maritime influence makes this site an ideal choice for growing world-class grapes. They built their dream winery producing four critically acclaimed wines: Pinot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their total wine production is less than 1,500 cases per year.

For the last 15 years Sean Q. Meyer has devoted himself to studying and appreciating the finer points of wine. As sommelier and wine director for some of the world's greatest culinary talent, including Chefs Thomas Keller, Frank Stitt and Tim McKee, Meyer developed a keen palate and expert knowledge. For the duration of this Sonoma Private Wineries experience, guests will have the opportunity to learn from and taste wines with Meyer as he guides them through Wine Country.

The Sonoma Private Wineries experience begins with guests arriving on Friday, November 1, at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, where they will check into their Deluxe Room for a two-night getaway. On the morning of Saturday, November 2, guests will board a luxury bus and embark on their exclusive wine expedition at 9:30 a.m. and can expect to return later in the evening.
